Utilizing Tumblr to Promote Your Business

New microblogging site Tumblr has taken the world by storm in recent months leading unprecedented growth.  How can you utilize the site for your business?  If you don’t already have a blog or website Tumblr would be a great place to start.  You can easily register your site through 1&1, Rackspace, or any number of other hosts. Then Tumblr provides step by step instructions on how to point it to them so that you’ll have a unique domain name without the .tumblr.com at the end.

Hopefully by now, though, you do have a blog and a website.  What then?  Tumblr has not yet mastered the art of blog import so it most likely won’t be practical to transfer your existing blog over to this site.  I recommend using as a Twitter like service.  Post your thoughts to Twitter through Tumblr via their link thus creating 2 sites for people to follow without the need to manufacture tons of new content.

Tumblr is just as easy as Twitter to use mobile.  And it has follow features not found on blog hosts like WordPress and Blogger.  Utilizing Tumblr as a stand alone service in addition to your existing blog and website makes the most sense. Linking to Facebook and Twitter will save time and energy.
